Hydrating skincare: quench and soothe
Hydration & Comfort
Quench your skin's thirst, soothe tightness, and restore supple, comfortable skin, day after day.
Understanding the need for hydration
Well-hydrated skin is skin whose upper layer retains enough water. When this reserve decreases — due to dry air, heating, overly aggressive cleansing, sun exposure — the skin feels tight, shows marks more easily, and the complexion loses its bounce. Discomfort can affect all skin types, including combination or oily skin: this is called dehydrated skin, a temporary and reversible condition.
The strategy involves two complementary actions: capturing water with humectants (like hyaluronic acid or glycerin), then retaining it with lipids that limit evaporation (vegetable oils, squalane, butters). This is the serum + cream duo — simple, gentle, regular.
Visible signs
- Tightness after cleansing
- Dehydration lines, accentuated features
- Dull and lacklustre complexion
- Sensations of discomfort at the end of the day
- Makeup that "clings" or creases
Possible causes
- Environment: dry air, heating, air conditioning, wind, sun
- Overly harsh cleansers or very hot water
- Insufficient hydration (drinking water and skincare)
- Weakened skin barrier due to overly strong active ingredients
- Frequent "radiance-boosting" exfoliations
- Skipping cream when skin is shiny
- Prolonged very hot showers
- Changing routine every week
Good practices
Cleanse without stripping (milk, gel, or oil textures), apply the hydrating serum to slightly damp skin to maximize the effect of humectants, seal with a cream suitable for your skin type, and protect from the sun. In the evening, a few drops of vegetable oil as a final step help the skin retain water overnight.
Useful ingredients
The essentials: hyaluronic acid, a humectant capable of retaining water on the surface for an immediate plumping effect; plant-derived glycerin, discreet and remarkably effective; aloe vera, hydrating and soothing; squalane, a light lipid similar to those in the skin; and prickly pear seed oil, rich in essential fatty acids, which helps maintain comfort and suppleness.
To handle with care
When skin feels tight, reduce anything that weakens the barrier:
Which skincare formats?
- Hydrating serum — the water concentrate to seal in afterwards
- Cream — the texture adapts: gel-cream for combination skin, rich for dry skin
- Mist or toner — to re-moisten before the serum
- Oil or balm — the evening anti-evaporation shield
Your routine
Morning: gentle cleansing, hydrating serum on damp skin, cream, sun protection. Evening: gentle makeup removal, serum, nourishing cream or oil. The difference in comfort will be felt within a few days of regularity.
