It is the best-tolerated clay in the group: positive reactions in patch tests read according to the ICDRG grid remain below 0.1% of tested subjects. Nevertheless, start with a test on the crook of your elbow, then with a short 5-minute application, before gradually reaching 8 to 10 minutes.

How long should it be left on skin lacking oil?
Between 8 and 10 minutes, and always before it dries completely. If the layer starts to crack before this time, it means it's too thin or the room is too dry: spray some hydrolate to re-moisten it rather than extending the application time.

What are the proportions for a homemade preparation?
Ten grams of powder for 12 mL of liquid yields a creamy consistency; 10 g for 9 mL yields a thick paste. Always add 3 to 4 mL of vegetable oil, following one of the four bases detailed above.

Which oil to combine with it?
Jojoba for a light touch, sweet almond for an enveloping finish, prickly pear for mature faces seeking richness without heaviness. Count 3 to 4 mL per 10 g of powder, according to the comparative table above.

Should essential oils be added?
It is neither necessary nor recommended on mature skin. If you wish to use them, limit yourself to 1 drop per 15 g of preparation — about 0.2% — with true lavender, or tea tree for localized application. Avoid during pregnancy, breastfeeding, and in children, and never without prior testing.

White clay or pink clay?
Both are suitable. Pink clay is a blend containing kaolinite, slightly more absorbent and appreciated for its effect on dull complexions. The pure white variety remains the mildest choice, and therefore the safest for a first experience.

At what temperature should I rinse?
With lukewarm water, 35 to 37 °C maximum. Hot water accentuates redness after application, while truly cold water creates unnecessary discomfort. Rinse thoroughly: a residual trace is enough to cause a feeling of tightness.

Can kaolin be used during pregnancy?
When applied topically, it is an inert mineral with no significant systemic passage. There are no particular concerns, but discuss it with your doctor or midwife, especially if you are preparing your own skincare products with other ingredients.

Can it be mixed directly with prickly pear oil?
Yes, it's even an excellent homemade base: 10 g of kaolin, 3 mL of prickly pear oil, and 6 mL of rose hydrosol, to be applied for 10 min. The fatty substance prevents the drying effect of the mineral used alone.

Does Nopal Life Vitamin C Serum contain kaolin?
No. The 2% Radiance Spot Vitamin C Serum is a clay-free formula. The mineral is used upstream, in the form of a mask, before applying the serum: this sequence helps to revive the appearance of radiance on a prepared surface.

How long does a preparation last?
Ideally, one hour. Maximum twenty-four hours in the refrigerator, without subsequent reuse. The powder alone can be kept for 24 to 36 months in a tightly closed container, away from humidity.
