A toner with salicylic acid (BHA), rounded out with plant-derived purifying actives. For combination and oily skin, visible pores and recurring blemishes. Why a BHA rather than an AHA. This is the decisive difference: salicylic acid is oil-soluble. It mixes with sebum and works right down inside the pore, where the plugs form. AHAs, being water-soluble, stay at the surface. On congested pores and blackheads, the BHA is the right tool. What it changes in practice. It helps clear congested pores, limits the appearance of new blackheads and refines the look of skin texture. On inflammatory blemishes the effect is more modest and calls for consistency. How to use it. After cleansing, on a cotton pad or by hand, before your serum. In the evening preferably, three to four times a week — not every day to begin with. The mistake that keeps the problem going. Piling on drying products to make shine disappear. Skin stripped of too many lipids often produces more sebum in response. A BHA toner goes together with light hydration, not against it. Do not stack it on the same evening with another exfoliant or a retinoid. And sun protection the next day: exfoliants increase sensitivity to sunlight. What it does not do. It does not shrink pores and it does not permanently regulate sebum.
