Hyaluronic Acid or Sodium Hyaluronate on the INCI

For 100g, a formula can contain 0.1 to 0.3g of sodium hyaluronate, 3g of glycerin, purified water, and a suitable preservative system. The powder is pre-dispersed in glycerin before adding the aqueous medium.

The final pH is often around 5 to 6, depending on other ingredients and the preservative. A commercial formula requires stability and microbiology tests.

Compatibility with electrolytes, acids, and alcohol

Salts and certain extracts can decrease viscosity. A very acidic or very basic pH can degrade the chain. A high amount of alcohol alters the film and the skin feel.

Each addition must be tested in the finished product, not just assumed compatible on paper.

It is the salt of the molecule, more stable and more soluble: seeing it instead of "Hyaluronic Acid" does not indicate any saving. What matters more is what accompanies it, and a plumping hydrating gel with hyaluronic acid adds a second humectant so that the final film holds.
